press release
Solar technology – Politics, Market & Finance, Marketing & Sales, November 2008 in Berlin

The Solarpraxis Forum
The Forum Solarpraxis as an established interdisciplinary, co-operative congress, brings players from the solar technology industry into contact with the worlds of politics, finance and the press. This year’s Forum Solarpraxis will once again offer talks covering the latest issues and practical experiences across all non-technical topics. Practical application of the themes together with concrete project implementation always takes the centre stage. Between talks, the Forum offers a multitude of opportunities for discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.

In times of climate change and ever more scarce resources, a large proportion of the German public clearly favours the use of renewable energies. Here, the German solar industry occupies a key position, through its know-how and its industrial capability for developing and producing solar power plant.

The Topics
The Forum Solarpraxis will take all forms of solar energy capture as themes – photovoltaics, solarthermal energy, solar cooling, solar-thermal power plants and suppliers industry – with its focus resting on the political environment, market development, as well as marketing, suppliers and finance.

The Organiser
Solarpraxis AG is an expert advisor and service provider. Since 1998, it generates and develops know how of renewable energies for companies, installers, organisations, associations, policy and public. Its engineers provide analyses, technical documentation and hotline service for customers. Its internal communications agency offers public relations, design and web services.

Solarpraxis AG produces specialist literature in eight languages and organises conferences on renewable energy.

Solar Energy: Popcorn-ball Design Doubles Efficiency Of Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

Source: ScienceDaily, Apr. 10, 2008
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/04/080410140451.htm

A new approach is able to create a dramatic improvement in cheap solar cells now being developed in laboratories. By using a popcorn-ball design — tiny kernels clumped into much larger porous spheres — researchers at the University of Washington are able to manipulate light and more than double the efficiency of converting solar energy to electricity. The findings were presented in New Orleans at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society April 10. (more…)

At the Zenith of Solar Energy (report on Israel’s Zenith Solar)

Rooftops all over Israel look strikingly similar: More than 1 million households in the nation of 7.1 million people have solar panels that produce hot water—a relatively simple technology that gained popularity after the 1973 Arab-Israeli war, when oil prices shot up sharply. As of the early 1990s, all new residential buildings were required by the government to install solar water-heating systems. (more…)
