Conergy AG‘s Spanish subsidiary Epuron SLU has begun construction on the Iberian peninsula on a large project based on tracking installations. The El Calaverón solar park near Villarrobledo in Castile-La Mancha is being built on a 90 hectare site. It is slated to have 20 MW of capacity. Two other parks that Epuron is currently building in Spain are the 3 MW plant Chinchilla II, in the Castillian region of Albacete, which is close to being completed, and Écija, a 1.5 MW system being built in Seville, Andalusia.

El Calaverón, like the company‘s previously built plants in Murcia and Castile, will be outfitted with »Solar Optimus II« tracking systems from Conergy AG. The modules also are made by the German company. The plant is slated to be completed by the middle of the year, which means it will be eligible for the feed-in tariff rates outlined in the Real Decreto 661/2007. It is the biggest project so far in the Castile-La Mancha region and one of the largest tracking systems in Spain. Galicia and Extremadura are the only regions that can claim more comprehensive projects at this time.
