As of June, 2007, SCHOTT Solar has signed up with the experienced agency for marketing and communication Saatchi & Saatchi. The objective is to further improve the image of the brand and overall perception of the company based in Alzenau.   The marketing agency Saatchi & Saatchi was founded in London in 1970 and ranks among the world’s most respected firms. In the past, Saatchi & Saatchi has already helped turn successful traditional companies into internationally leading brands. Now, Saatchi & Saatchi will be adding its expertise to SCHOTT Solar’s brand campaign.

One of the world’s largest solar electricity installations has been located in Neustadt an der Weinstraße since January of 2004.  SCHOTT Solar GmbH is seeking to strengthen its position as one of the world’s technology and market leaders in the field of Photovoltaics. To achieve this, the company will be quadrupling its production capacities by 2010. SCHOTT Solar GmbH will be investing 100 million euros over the course of the next six months alone. For the most part, production of wafers, cells and modules will be expanded in both Germany and the Czech Republic. Research and development and sales activities are to be extended on a global basis.

At this year’s Intersolar, SCHOTT Solar will be introducing the new framed version of the ASI F-90 thin-film module. In comparison to the previous model, ASI-F 32/12, this module produces nearly three times as much output, offering 86 watts to start with. Thanks to its design and dimensions, it is easy to install and particularly well-suited for large roofs and open surfaces in industrial and rural areas, but also stand-alone installations. With the introduction of the ASI F-90 an alternative module will be available to the market that is also ideally suited for off-grid usage.

Johanna Solar’s CIGSSe modules to be distributed by Aleo Solar

Johanna Solar Technology GmbH (JST) of Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany has granted the right to distribute up to 80% of its CIGSSe (copper indium gallium sulfur selenide) thin-film solar modules for at least five years to aleo solar AG of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony, Germany (under the name ‘aleo’). Both firms will cooperate in the product launch: aleo will be responsible for product branding, while Johanna Solar Technology will be responsible for technology branding (products will bear the label “made by Johanna”).

Hoku Scientific Inc., scoring its largest deal yet since transforming itself into a supplier to solar-panel makers, said yesterday it has signed a contract with a China-based company that is worth up to $678 million.  The 10-year deal with Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd., the third-largest solar-cell maker in the world, gives subsidiary Hoku Materials more than $1 billion in contracts for polysilicon from the factory Hoku is building in Pocatello, Idaho. In January, Hoku signed a $370 million, seven-year supply contract with Osaka, Japan-based Sanyo Electric Co. Ltd.
