DT Solar, a Turner Renewable Energy Company, and ProCaps Laboratories/TWC Construction today announced that they will work together to design and install a 700 kW solar electric generating system at the headquarters of ProCaps and TWC in Henderson, Nevada. The system will be the largest of its type in the state of Nevada. The 700 kW system will be installed as part of a steel structure covering a parking lot adjacent to the 200,000 square foot ProCaps headquarters. Both ProCaps and TWC Construction will be supplied with electricity generated by the system. The system, in conjunction with an existing solar system, will provide nearly 1 MW of solar power during the midday hours, meeting the electric needs of both facilities for many days of the year.
The investment in solar power reflects the commitment to health and sustainability of the Chairman and Founder of both companies, Andrew Lessman. Lessman, who appears regularly on the Home Shopping Network to discuss the health benefits of his ProCaps line of vitamins and supplements, was an early adopter of solar power technology, having installed a large system on the roof of the ProCaps manufacturing facility in early 2004.
“It is exciting that I can not only produce the highest quality all-natural vitamins with solar power as I have been doing for years, but will now be able to use solar energy for the entire ProCaps operation, including shipping, receiving and office complex, as well as meet the power needs of TWC Construction.”
This solar project will be designed and supplied by DT Solar and installed by TWC Construction. When completed, the system will comprise nearly 2300 Schott solar modules and is expected to generate more than 1,000,000 kWh of solar electricity annually for TWC Construction and ProCaps Labs together, resulting in an annual carbon dioxide reduction of over 1.6 million pounds.
“We are very pleased to have been chosen to work with TWC in delivering this exciting solar power project. This partnership is especially meaningful to DT Solar, as it represents our success in expanding beyond our base in the regional mid-Atlantic market to deliver our quality services out of our new California office,” said Tom Kuster, CEO of DT Solar. “We couldn’t have chosen a client better aligned with our vision of quality in design, execution in delivery, and sustainability in practice than TWC and ProCaps Laboratories.”
