Amtech Systems (Nasdaq: ASYS) said today it received a $4.9 million follow-on order from a new customer in Asia. On July 11, the Arizona supplier of production and automation systems for the solar cell, semiconductor and wafer industry said it signed a $4.4 million supply contract with the Asian company. The name of the new customer was not disclosed.
Amtech said it has received approximately $19 million in solar orders, including this most recent order, for its fiscal 2007 so far. The company said in May that it expects third-quarter sales to grow by 11 percent to 25 percent, to $11.5 million to $13 million, up from $10.4 million in the third quarter 2006.
In June, the company announced that it grabbed $4.1 million in new solar supply contracts, all from new Asia-based customers, and in May it said it secured a $1.9 million order. Amtech expects the $4.9 million order to ship in fiscal 2008.
Founded in 1981, the company’s semiconductor handling, thermal processing and consumable products address the diffusion, oxidation and deposition steps used in the fabrication of semiconductors, solar cells, micro-electro-mechanical systems and the polishing of newly sliced silicon wafers.
