XsunX, Inc. , a developer of advanced manufacturing systems and thin-film photovoltaic solar modules, will begin offering its planned 2008 production capacities for its new Amorphous Silicon Solar Modules, beginning at the 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Trade Show in Milan, Italy September 3-7, and continuing at the Solar Power 2007 Conference and Trade Show in Long Beach, California from September 24-27.
XsunX will be offering its Amorphous Silicon Solar Modules on a pre- production basis and is planning meetings with qualified prospective customers during both of these upcoming shows. In calendar year 2008, upon completion of the first phase of its planned manufacturing facility, XsunX anticipates that its initial manufacturing line will produce approximately 17,000 solar modules which XsunX will be making available for sale and delivery. With the planned completion of the full 100MW of production facilities in 2009, capacity would grow to over 950,000 modules annually.
“Amorphous silicon’s use in the manufacturing process and finished product provides many advantages to crystalline silicon and we intend to market the advantages aggressively,” says Kurt Laetz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The reality is that crystalline silicon solar cells lose a lot of their performance under normal everyday conditions so they only work to their full potential when they are directly facing the sun and there is nothing even partially blocking the sunlight. That might work well on the moon where there are no clouds, haze, or trees,” Laetz continues, “but here on earth, such perfect conditions are hardly the norm. Amorphous silicon experiences a lower degree of performance reduction under these conditions and can produce power during a wider portion of the day, including early morning and late afternoon hours. We believe that our Amorphous modules will perform better in a wider range of conditions while costing less to make and will provide users with better long-term value,” concluded Laetz.
