Ever Energy, an affiliate established by Taiwan-based electricity system supplier Ever Power, is preparing for equipment move-in in 2008, targeting to house an annual capacity of 90 peak megawatt (MWp) in the first year. According to sources that have contacts with Ever Energy, this new solar cell maker has purchased equipment from the Germany-based Centrotherm. The company will also land turn-key know-how from the equipment supplier. Three turn-key production lines are currently planned, the sources detailed.
Established during October 2005, Ever Energy has a capital size of about NT$498 million (US$14.98 million). The company will focus its major business on solar cell production and electronics materials distribution, according to sources at Taiwan solar cell makers. Although equipment move-in is slated for next year, Ever Power started developing and researching solar cell production over two years ago, the company noted.
Industry players commented that the long preparation time that Ever Power spent highlights its confidence over production technologies. When compared to the relatively new solar cell maker Gintech Technology’s planned 60MWp capacity, Ever Energy’s plans to house an annual capacity of 90 MWp in the first year of production are an aggressive goal.
Executives from Ever Power confirmed the speculation about its affiliate’s deployment on solar cell production, stressing that the company would not tap into this business without having a solid technology base and materials supply.
