EVERPHOTON plans to set up the first HCPV power plant in Asia

LED companies Everlight and Epistar are collaborating with Yee Fong Chemical and EVERPHOTON to set up the first HCPV power plant in Asia by the end of 2008, with the plant to have an estimated initial capacity of 1MWp.  The project is lead by EVERPHOTON, a company located in Taiwan and dedicated itself to HCPV industry and engaged in developing and manufacturing of high efficiency modules, high concentration Fresnel lens, sensors & controller, and tracker. It offers a total solution of high-efficiency HCPV solar power system as well.

“We are now planning to launch a 1MW HCPV power plant in Taiwan and it will also be the first one in Asia to demonstrate our high quality system.” Eric Chen , the CEO of EVERPHOTON, said. The first phase of 200kWp will be completed at the beginning of 2009 and will be located at southern Taiwan.

EVERPHOTON was founded in 2007 with investments from global top five LED packaging house Everlight Electronics and electronic material producer Yee Fong Chemical. Furthermore, Everlight is one of the major shareholders of EVERPHOTON and Epistar. With this close relationship, those companies planned to corporate among companies in building the first HCPV power plant in Asia.

EVERPHOTON indicated that it will adopt solar cells from world top 3 suppliers for its HCPV solar power plant project and will also do laboratory test on solar cells from local and other solar cell suppliers. After the first phase 200kW construction completed, it plans to host a HCPV World Conference in July 2009 at Taiwan.
