Applied Materials, a US-based nano-manufacturing technology solutions provider, on Thursday said it has commenced a second round of dialogue with Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd (MBPV) for supplying critical production equipment to the latter’s thin film photo voltaics modules manufacturing facility at Greater Noida.
A subsidiary of the optical storage media manufacturer Moser Baer India Ltd, MBPV had partnered Applied Materials to manufacture thin film solar modules that are ideal for running energy farms, rural applications and for Building Integrated Photo Voltaic (BIPV) markets.
Accordingly, Applied Materials had established its Sunfab Solar Module Production Line at the facility. MBPV’s current manufacturing capacity is 40 Mw and it plans to increase it to 600 Mw by 2010. “As Moser Baer is talking about starting another production line, we have started talks with it,” Madhusudan V Atre, president, Applied Materials India Private Limited, told reporters here. Atre said the capacity enhancement at Moser Baer facility will be completed within six months. This apart, Applied Materials is also holding talks with other Indian companies that are keen on producing solar energy.
