Production of first TPS® design Photovoltaic modules begins

Lenhardt’s Bystronic glass technology centre has reason to celebrate another decisive success in introducing TPS ® thermoplastic adhesives and sealants into the photovoltaic industry: Production of the first TPS ® design Photovoltaik modules has begun in Freiburg Germany . The specific application was concentrator modules of German company Concentrix Solar GmbH. That makes these the first modules for which the TPS ® applications system of Lenhardt Maschinenbau GmbH has played a decisive role in production.
Now that the new FLATCON® concentrator modules have successfully passed IEC tests, the first power plants will already be installed in the next few weeks in Spain. For Tobias Neff, Director of the Photovoltaik Division of Lenhardt Maschinenbau GmbH, this is a great success: “We were always convinced that our TPS® Application Technology had the potential to decisively optimize production processes used in manufacturing PV modules. Still it was a great moment for me to hold the first modules of this new generation in my hands. With our entry into concentrator technology, we have now reached an important milestone. Now it is just a matter of time until our application system is used in other areas of module manufacturing.“
Already in mid-January, Concentrix Solar GmbH was honoured for its solar power plants including innovative concentrator technology modules by Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main e. V. and WirtschaftsWoche with the innovation prize for the German economy.
