SOLON AG to sell solar power plant in Spain to Meinl International Power Ltd.

SOLON AG, headquartered in Berlin and one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of solar modules and photovoltaic systems, has sold several large-scale power plants in Spain to expand on the Company’s already strong position in the Spanish market. The solar power plants were developed and implemented by SOLON Solar Investments GmbH, Freiburg, Germany, a SOLON subsidiary that specializes in planning large-scale power plant projects for financial investors.
The sale, which had a total volume of approx. Euro 87 million, was made to financial investor Meinl International Power Ltd. This is already the seventh investment that Meinl International Power Ltd. has secured in the fields of conventional and renewable energy since going public in the summer of 2007 and encompasses power plants at a total of four locations in the Spanish mainland and the Balearic Islands. The power plants will produce enough energy per year to supply 5,000 households with electricity from renewable resources.
Along with planning and implementing the photovoltaic power plant, the Freiburg project specialists are also structuring the financing for the project via LRP Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz, Mainz, Germany. For this purpose LRP concluded a financing package with Meinl International Power, Ltd. and a project company. LRP is sole arranger of the financing. This represents the biggest project financing by LRP in Spain to date.
