Solar energy park in Purulia, West Bengal, India

West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency will set up a solar energy park in Purulia district which will generate about 30 mw to 40 mw of solar power in the next two years. The said park is expected to attract investments in between Rs 600 and Rs 800 crore over the next two years, Dr SP Gon Chowdhury, managing director of WBREDA said.
WBREDA will acquire about 120 acres of land and will develop infrastructure facilities to facilitate private players to set up their plants. It will float an special purpose vehicle for the purpose. “The land will be give to the corporates interested to set up solar power plants in the park on lease basis. The private players will feed the power to the grid,” Mr Gon Chowdhury added. He said that WBREDA will also invite expression of interest from the private players.
Mr Gon Chowdhury informed that Reliance Group has already acquired land in Purulia to set up a five mega watt solar power plant. Apart from that, the group has also shown interest to take land in the solar energy park.
