Late on Wednesday evening ersol Solar Energy AG (ersol) signed a further contract with the German company Wacker Chemie AG, the world’s second-largest supplier of polysilicon for the semiconductor and photovoltaic industry, for delivery of this scarce raw material. This contract will apply from 2010 onwards and will enable ersol to generate an additional output of about 300 MWp of crystalline solar cells over a period of nine years. The silicon price has been fixed for the entire term of the contract. ersol scheduled to make down payments to Wacker Chemie.
“ersol still believes that silicon will remain the limiting factor in the PV industry in the near future. To secure growth we decided to sign a further long-term contract with Wacker,” said Dr. Claus Beneking, CEO of ersol, explaining the co-operation with the Bavarian chemical company. “The agreed silicon prices enable us to offer our solar cells to ersol customers at attractive rates under equally long-term contracts,” concludes Beneking.
