Solar Integrated Technologies, Inc. (AIM:SIT.LN), a leading provider of building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing systems,  announced today that it has won three new orders from Master Renovables, a Spanish engineering firm and solar integrator, aggregating $1.7 million. Two of these orders are for BIPV roofing systems to be installed at two shopping centers owned by Unibail-Rodamco, the largest owner-manager of retail properties in Europe. These projects will be installed at Unibail-Rodamco’s Barnasud Shopping Center in Barcelona and Vallsur Shopping Center in Valladolid. All three projects are expected to be completed in 2007.

Wales is to make it easier to instal solar panel and wind turbines in Welsh homes. The Assembly Government aims to reduce the need for planning permission for such equipment, helping people and local communities to tackle climate change.

Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing, Jane Davidson, said today: “Achieving sustainable energy production and consumption is key to tackling climate change, which is my number one priority. “I am putting forward these proposals to lift any potential barriers to allow for greater micro-generation in Wales.”

Aleo solar AG can report new orders from Italy: A number of specialist dealers and fitters have placed orders for aleo modules totalling EUR 12 million. Roof-mounted installations up to 50 kW in particular will be completed, as they attract high feed-in tariffs in Italy. These contracts will allow Aleo solar AG to significantly expand its Italian customer base. They will increase Aleo solar AG´s total international order volume for 2007 to approx. EUR 60 million by the end of July. aleo solar has had a sales team in Italy since mid-2006. Simplified legislation was passed in Italy at the beginning of 2007. aleo´s sales team was expanded in April and its strong specialist dealer support was presented at the “Solarexpo” trade fair in Verona.

Specialist in CIGS solar cells HelioVolt gets $77 million

The specialist in CIGS solar cells plans to use the money to build factories for producing the panels.

Despite recent hiccups, the CIGS train rolls on. HelioVolt, which specializes in copper-indium-germanium-selenide (CIGS) solar cells, has raised $77 million in a second round of financing, some of which comes from a fund out of the oil-rich sultanate of Abu Dhabi.  The money will be used to build factories. HelioVolt hopes to start limited production in the middle of next year and ramp to full production by the first quarter of 2009, CEO B.J. Stanbery said in an interview. (more…)
