Aerojet, a GenCorp (NYSE:GY) company, and Solar Power, Inc. (“SPI”)(OTCBB:SOPW) announced jointly today that they have entered into an agreement to build a 3.5 megawatt solar system at Aerojet’s Sacramento, California facility. The site is located within the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).  This is the first solar system Aerojet has installed and it is a significant part of the company’s environmental and sustainability initiatives.  (more…)

Phoenix Solar AG, a leading photovoltaic system integrator listed on the TecDAX, is currently building a photovoltaic power plant with a 5.8 megawatt peak output on behalf of the Enovos Group in Kenn in the district of Trier-Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate. Construction work has already begun and the commissioning of the power plant has been scheduled for the end of July 2009. Suntech Starts First 1MW+ Rooftop Solar Project in Jiangsu Province

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (NYSE: STP), the world’s largest manufacturer of crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules, announced today that it will build a 1.5MW solar system in HuaiAn City, Jiangsu Province, China in collaboration with Jiangsu Guoxin Asset Management Group Ltd. (Jiangsu Guoxin Group). The solar system, which is expected to be completed by October 2009, will be the first one megawatt plus, grid connected solar system installed in Jiangsu Province.  Suntech Energy Engineering, Suntech’s China-based systems integration team, will design and install the 1.5MW solar system on 19,000 square meters of the rooftop of buildings housing a subsidiary of Jiangsu Guoxin Group in HuaiAn City. Timminco and Q-Cells Replace Solar Grade Silicon Contract

Timminco Limited (“Timminco”) (TSX:TIM) and Q-Cells SE (“Q-Cells”) (FRANKFURT:QCE) announced that they have reached a new supply agreement for solar grade silicon. It will replace the agreement signed in 2008 for the five-year period through 2013. The new agreement contemplates deliveries of 100 mt of solar grade silicon for the remainder of 2009. Volumes, pricing and other terms for deliveries of solar grade silicon in years 2010 to 2013 will be subject to mutual agreement by the end of 2009 and will be negotiated in the context of prevailing solar industry market conditions. Timminco will also return the outstanding deposit of approximately EUR 8.9 million to Q-Cells. The companies agreed to a repayment schedule that will commence in the first quarter 2010 and be completed by the end of 2010. Timminco will pay interest on the outstanding balance at an agreed rate.
