After evaluating a number of signage alternatives, the communications company chose the contemporary look and ultra-slim profile of Carmanah’s LED edge-lit signs to identify its authorized dealers. Going solar in a big way in Bucks County, Philadelphia

Bucks County may not be known as a place to catch some rays. But if all goes as planned, Falls Township will soon be home to one of the nation’s largest solar-energy installations, a 16.5-acre array of 17,000 panels that should produce enough power to meet the annual needs of up to 400 homes.  Plans for the $20 million facility were scheduled to be announced this afternoon at the site, next to the township’s GROWS Landfill, by Gov. Rendell and representatives of three companies behind it: Exelon Corp., Conergy AG and Waste Management Inc.

Enel plans €300 million solar investment across Italy

Enel has announced plans to install 1,200 photovoltaic solar panels across Italy, as part of a €300 million ($408 million) investment in solar power. The Italian power company will install the panels on top of its transformer stations. It has already installed panels on 14 of these stations, and another seven will be up and running by early September. When the installations are completed in 2010, the panels will have a combined capacity of 24MW. (more…)

Last week, Arise Technologies Corp. announced it’s wholly owned subsidiary ARISE Technologies Deutschland GmbH, entered into an agreement to purchase a 13 hectare site from the City of Bischofswerda, Germany. In conjunction, an agreement with HOCHTIEF Construction AG to construct the company’s first solar cell manufacturing plant in Bischofswerda was also announced.

In an initiative in favour of alternative energy Enemalta has set up a solar panel system in the Qawra district office which is to make it totally self-sufficient.  The solar panel system which was launched during a press conference on Tuesday morning, is the second on the island, with a slightly smaller version having been installed in Sliema a few months ago.

Conergy has reached an agreement to become a key North American channel partner for Day4’s high efficiency solar modules. The agreement guarantees at least 2 MW of modules for calendar year 2007 and considerably more for 2008. Day4 modules are produced with proprietary technology that results in high module efficiency at an economical price.
