Chinese power firm Sichuan Electric Power Co. is considering the development of a $1 billion-solar and wind farm in the northern part of the Philippines. Special Envoy for China Francis Chua confirmed Sichuan’s proposed plan, which was one of the major business investments discussed during President Gloria Arroyo’s recent visit to China.
Aside from the solar and wind farm, Sichuan has also proposed to build a nuclear-based projects Sichuan could pour as much as $3 million in investment in the country depending on which power-related projects it would eventually pursue later on. Officials of the power firm will visit the Philippines in July, joining a 150-member Chinese contingent who will look for investment prospects in the country.
