General Electric has received a Connecticut Clean Energy Fund grant of up to $722,000 to help defray a portion of the total project cost of installing a 168-kilowatt DC solar photovoltaic system at its headquarters facility in Fairfield, Connecticut.
The addition of 840 solar panels to the rooftop of GE’s corporate headquarters complex, composed of two separate buildings, will result in less use of utility supplied power during the periods of highest demand. The photovoltaic system will incorporate GE’s PVp-200-M 200-watt polycrystalline panels, which will be supplied at cost to the project.
“GE is pleased to partner with the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, the United Illuminating Company and our own Energy Team to install this clean source of renewable energy,” said Mark Stoler, General Electric’s director of environmental health and safety operations. ”This is a natural fit with our company wide Ecomagination Initiative and our goal to be a good neighbor in Fairfield County. We envision that our Headquarters installation will be used as a model for other GE rooftops locally and around the globe.”
