Touted as being the crowning jewel of Nitzana, a new solar park is under development with stage one finished and stage two commencing. This solar park will educate the young and old alike about the sun, how it affects our lives and the phenomenal possibilities of capturing and utilizing the energy of the sun to be used as a main energy source.
In order to learn and understand more about Solar energy concepts, the Solar Park is divided into six clusters. Each cluster will represent how the sun can be utilized:
* The solar system
* The sun as a source of heat
* The sun as a source of light
* The sun as a source of life
* Alternative energy
* Desert ecosystems
The solar system exhibit will include a huge sun dial. The heat and light exhibits will be illustrated by a heat concentrator and a light concentrator. A photosynthesis tower will portray sun as a source of life and a wind vane will be included in the alternative energy exhibit. The desert cooler building has already been erected for the exhibit of desert ecosystems.
The total exhibit area will cover 12,000 square meters. The final stage of the park will include a main entrance, a workshop, classrooms and a parking lot for cars and buses. The teaching at Nitzana’s Solar Park will be more in depth. Several hours will be spent on each exhibit to make it more meaningful and complete the students understanding.
