World’s largest thin film solar modules from Signet Solar now TÜV-certified
TÜV InterCert grants TÜV-certificate to SI S1 modules from Signet Solar in accordance with IEC 61646 and IEC 61730 standards

Signet Solar, producer of thin film silicon solar modules, today announced that the TÜV InterCert has granted TÜV certification to the SI-S1 photovoltaic modules from Signet Solar in accordance with IEC 61646 and IEC 61730. Now, all solar module formats that the company produces are TÜV certified. The SI-S1-Module, measuring 2.60 m x 2.20 m and nearly reaches the shop window format, successfully passed all tests required for IEC 61646 and 61730 certification at TÜV InterCert. Signet Solar is thereby the first world-wide producer of ultra-large thin film modules, which meet the high quality requirements of TÜV InterCert.
The certification was preceded by extensive electrical and mechanical stress tests of Signet Solar modules over several months as well as an on-site inspection of the production facility in Mochau, Saxony, where every detail of all production steps were audited in depth and approved. The TÜV particularly highlighted the in-line quality control that is set up in the Signet Solar production line, which TÜV has not seen in this form yet. “We are pleased that we have successfully completed the TÜV certification. The IEC 61646 and
61730 certificates guarantee buyers and project financiers that our thin film solar modules conform to the highest international product and quality standards “, stressed Gunter Ziegenbalg, managing director of the Signet Solar GmbH.
“The basis of our product quality,” the managing director continued, “is a strict quality management control, diligently covering all production steps from the starting materials to the final product release and support. Therefore, our customers can be assured that each module, which leaves our Saxonian factory, will fulfill the requirements of the 30 years product life span, of which 25 years are guaranteed. ”
