The first thin-film modules made by Signet Solar are awaiting installation in Hohenlauft in the Rural District of Doebeln as from October 2008. The Rural District of Doebeln is currently setting up a free-space solar plant in Hohenlauft near Doebeln at the total cost of Euro 1.6 million. Upon its completion in November 2008, it is expected to have a capacity of 250 kW. Both crystalline and thin-film modules are going to be installed. Signet Solar, a manufacturer of thin-film solar modules, is supplying this project with 1,580 modules of a total capacity of 130 kWp to be installed in Hohenlauft from October 2008.

“We are convinced that this solar plant will render excellent energy ratios and will play a role model as our first facility of reference. It is going to strengthen our presence in the region”, said Gunter Ziegenbalg, Managing Director of Signet Solar GmbH. “The Rural District of Doebeln has had a positive attitude towards the thin-film technology and its benefits from the very beginning”, the solar entrepreneur added.

Within only a few months, Signet Solar set up an ultra-modern production and research facility in Saxony to make thin-film solar modules. Its pilot production for the world’s largest modules measuring 2.20 m x 2.60 m has been running in Mochau near Dresden since as early as June 2008. Production at full capacity is planned to start in September 2008.
Also, from August 21 through August 23, 2008, Signet Solar will be present in New Delhi, India, at the Renewable Energy India, Asia’s most important photovoltaic fair, with the company’s full range of products.
