Grand Opening on October 11 to Open a Brand New Territory for Environment. In addition, the Taiwanese government has decided to follow the global trend for developing reusable energy. Its goal is to increase solar energy supply capacity from the 2004 level of 1.2 megawatts to 21 megawatts by 2010. Photovoltaic production value in Taiwan is expected to reach NT$50 billion in 2009, up from NT$ 7 billion in 2005.
The “Taipei International PHOTOVOLTAIC Forum,” first held in July 2006, has been very successful and has received enthusiastic responses from all sectors of society. This year, the event will be held again on a larger scale. Initiated by the Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the “2007 Taiwan International PHOTOVOLTAIC Forum and Exhibition” is scheduled to take place at an extended level on October 11-12 at the first and the second floor of the Taipei International Convention Center. The event, which is an integrated, large-scale international professional exhibition, will be the first in Taiwan to combine a photovoltaic forum with an exhibition. The exhibition will feature rich and versatile content, which can not only help business developers explore domestic and foreign markets, but can also allow them to exchange techniques with each other and upgrade photovoltaic technology research and development. The event will surely catch the attention from businesses in the photovoltaic industry. All business developers and buyers are welcome to participate enthusiastically.
This exhibition will be divided into five major sections, including a Material and Solar Cells pavilion, a Module and PV Inverters pavilion, a System Applications and Processing Equipment pavilion and sections for Industry Associations and Media. So far 74 companies from home and abroad have registered for the exhibition, making up a total of 110 booths. These companies include the world’s second largest manufacturer of solar cells, Q-Cells AG from Germany, Abakus from Germany, DuPont from the United States, as well as leading domestic companies in the photovoltaic industry such as E-Ton Solar Tech, Mosel Vitelic, Gintech Energy Corp., Green Energy Technology Inc. and Darfon Electronics Corp.
This year, TAITRA has invited 14 renowned speakers from leading enterprises based in the United States, Japan, Germany and Canada, for example, the world’s four largest manufacturers of silicon solar cells, Sharp Corporation from Japan, Q-Cells AG from Germany, Kyocera from Japan, Suntech Power from China and the world’s two largest manufacturers of thin film solar cells, United Solar Ovonic from the United States and Kaneka from Japan. Other speakers will include major manufacturers of solar cell equipment and polysilicon silicon materials such as Applied Material from the United States, Arise from Canada, Solarvalue AG from Germany and major domestic manufacturers such as Motec Industries Inc., E-Ton Solar Tech and Gintech Energy Corp.) Some of the speakers that will be present include Ms. Claudia Boehringer, CEO of Solarvalue AG, Mr. Tatsuo Saga, Group Deputy General Manager of Solar System Group, Mr. Uwe Juergen Bauer, Managing Director of Q-Cells Asia Limited and Mr. Ian MacLellan, President and CEO of Arise Technologies Corporation. Topics that will be discussed in the forum include: the current status of and trends in the global PV industry, solar cells, thin film solar cells and solar-grade silicon materials. It is believed that the speeches will enable business developers from home and abroad to fully understand the latest developments in the global PV industry.
In addition, to promote and increase the influence Taiwan’s PV industry on an international scale, two shows will be held during October 9-13 at the nearby Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1 and Hall 3 in conjunction with this forum. These shows are the large, annual exhibition “Taipei International Electronics Autumn Show 2007” organized both by TAITRA and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association and the “Taiwan International RFID Applications Show 2007” which will be held for the first time. These three exhibitions will achieve a greater combined effect, create more business opportunities and open up new opportunities for Taiwan’s environment friendly energy industry.
