Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited (NYSE: YGE) (“Yingli Green Energy” or the “Company”), one of the world’s leading vertically integrated photovoltaic (“PV”) product manufacturers, today announced that it has entered into a framework agreement with the local government of a county in Beijing regarding the proposed construction of a 10 MW solar power plant. Philippine National Oil buys Shell solar home project

In an effort to promote renewable energy use and at the same time provide electricity to far-flung areas, the state-owned Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) has paid P17.2 million for the Solar Homes System Distribution Project of Shell Solar Philippines Corp.  Company president Antonio Cailao said PNOC aimed to lead in promoting solar energy use in the Philippines through this project. SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) announces that it has completed construction of the Shiga Plant at its Shiga facilities (Ohtsu City, Shiga Prefecture) which was constructed for the assembly of HIT solar cell modules as part of continuing plans to expand and develop its Solar business.  The Shiga Plant will have an initial production capacity of 40 MW, and SANYO will consider expanding the production capacity of the factory upon further review of market trends and demand. China solar firm Shunda aims for $1 bln IPO in New York

China’s Jiangsu Shunda Group, which makes silicon wafers used in solar power cells, aims to raise $1 billion from a share listing in New York during the first half of next year to fund rapid expansion, its president said on Monday. It plans to invest 1.2 billion yuan ($175 million) in a second polysilicon plant with annual production capacity of 3,500 tonnes, aiming to launch output in June 2009, Ni Yunda told Reuters in a telephone interview.
