Under the terms of a deal announced at Intersolar Europe this week, RGE Energy will use hundreds of thousands of BP Solar crystalline-silicon PV panels for 66 MW of installations, including a 46-MWp plant to be built in Koethen, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.  The project launch is planned for the third quarter; the approval procedure is being processed, and by the end of the year, all of the 220-W modules should be set for installation, the companies said.

In addition to the Koethen project, other German installations planned as part of the cooperative agreement between the two companies include a 15-MW solar system at Eberswalde airport and an option for another 15 MW.

For the first time on a nonturnkey project development, BP Solar says it will offer a guarantee on yield for the solar modules it supplies to RGE. If the system does not deliver the overall energy yields guaranteed by BP Solar, the manufacturer will cover the difference on the basis of the currently valid feed-in tariff.

“As a company with a long-standing experience in developing projects of large-scale solar power plants, we constantly focus on the highest quality and safety standards of our projects,” said Elias Issa, RGE’s CEO. “This approach applies not only to the financing, project planning, installation, and security concept of the solar system, but equally to the quality of installed solar modules.”
