Ascent Solar, a budding solar energy firm in Colorado, announced a new partnership this morning with ITOCHU Corp. of Japan. The partnership could help Ascent distribute its solar panels in Japan and other parts of the world. Ascent makes flexible solar panels or modules that can be used in building materials. It has a deal with a Norwegian company that will use Ascent’s technology in curtains.
Ascent Solar President and CEO Matthew Foster said in a statement that the ITOCHU partnership “is an important development for Ascent Solar. The strategic relationships we envision with ITOCHU are designed to provide Ascent Solar a greater marketing presence and potential access to new opportunities in the Asian markets. We believe that we should also benefit from new relationships from across the worldwide ITOCHU business network.”
Ascent recently announced that it would move its corporate headquarters to Thornton, where it is building a manufacturing plant.
