Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL – News; “Trina Solar” or the “Company”), a leading integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic products from the production of ingots, wafers and cells to the assembly of PV modules, founded in 1997, today announced that it has adopted an improved bulk module packaging design as it continues to implement measures in its production and logistics value chain to save resources, reduce costs and help conserve the environment.

The new module packaging design has been adopted in December following several months of extensive in-house development, external agency testing and positive customer feedback on actual samples. The main advantages of this innovative design include reduction in cardboard use and shipping container efficiency gains of approximately 20%, thus lowering storage and shipping costs. The vertical placement of modules within the new packaging also adds further protection during transit by reducing inherent stress on the modules. This new design reflects the Company’s commitment to further enhance its product and services in terms of innovation, quality and reliability.

“We are pleased to announce an innovative module packaging design that improves the quality of our products and how we service our customers, while at the same time reducing our costs and making a contribution to conserve the environment,” said Mr. Jifan Gao, Trina Solar’s Chairman and CEO. “This is a testament to our commitment to continuously improve our operations to achieve market leading efficiencies as we position Trina Solar to be a leader in the global solar PV module industry.”

Installers are very pleased with the results, as it reduces the cost of handling cardboard waste, especially at larger PV systems installations. The new box also reduces installation time due to reduced efforts required for unpacking. Standard boxes can still be ordered at no extra cost for smaller system installations.
