SunEdison, the leading solar energy services provider, today announced that it has selected Suntech Power Holdings as key supplier for the 8.22-megawatt Alamosa Photovoltaic Solar Plant.  “Meeting the demands needed for the 8.22 megawatt Alamosa Photovoltaic Solar Plant is critical. The choice of our cornerstone supplier for this project – Suntech – was driven by the stringent selection criteria established by the SunEdison installation teams. It is important to SunEdison that we partner with leading vendors, who help simplify the complexity of solar through the delivery of robust, proven product,” noted Jigar Shah, CEO of SunEdison.

Suntech will provide more than 27,000 solar panels that will generate most of the Alamosa photovoltaic plant’s electricity once the project is completed.  “Suntech is proud to have been chosen by SunEdison to work on this project. We are committed to providing the timely delivery of affordable, quality solar modules to our customers,” noted Roger Efird, President of Suntech America.

SunEdison will build, own and maintain the Alamosa Photovoltaic Plant, which is scheduled for completion in early 2008. Xcel Energy will purchase the solar energy generated by the solar plant. A groundbreaking ceremony at the Alamosa, Colorado site was held on April 23, 2007.  SunEdison is working with local companies and contractors to construct and maintain the plant. In February, the solar energy services provider hired over 40 new employees at a job fair held in Colorado’s San Luis Valley.

SunEdison works with industry leading technology providers in the solar sector. Other vendors on the Alamosa photovoltaic power plant and meeting SunEdison selection requirements are Xantrex (TSX:XTX), supplying power inverters, and Solon AG (FSE:S001), supplying concentrators.
