At the 23rd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition this week in Valencia, Spain, a record efficiency for Dye Solar Cells was announced by the research team at EPFL, lead by Prof Michael Graetzel (Chairman Dyesol Technology Advisory Board). In the paper presented by Ravi Thampi, it was announced that the record 11.3% efficiency was achieved using Dyesol nanoparticulate titania paste. The cells were manufactured by EPFL researcher, Takeru Bessho. This is the first independently verified efficiency over 11% for single junction DSC.
This validates Dyesol's market position to provide to researchers and commercial users materials and technology that deliver the best possible performance reliably and reproducibly. The paste used by EPFL is the same as that supplied to several industrial clients and partners in larger pre-industrial quantities.
Ongoing technological development and IP creation are fundamental to Dyesol's leading position in the industrialisation of 3rd generation solar technology. Dyesol's ability to service the growing number of companies setting up DSC manufacturing programmes is underpinned by the new facilities being installed in Queanbeyan.
